How can Bariatric surgery be a solution for diabetes?
If you have diabetes you are more likely to get serious complications from the surgery as much risk as getting the surgery from an inexperienced surgeon. Google it it’s under

The primary cause for Type 2 Diabetes is obesity.
Bariatric Surgery, of course, causes rapid and massive weight loss. the weight loss thus improves the diabetic situation.
You ARE more likely to get complications when you are diabetic, but this is a well known fact, a fact that the doctors are WELL aware of, and take precautions for pre- and post-operative care to minimize these risks.
[I am 50 pounds overweight, and a Type 2 Diabetic for 30+ years. I recently had a kidney transplant (a much worse operation that bariatric surgery) with NO complications.]
In a person that is a CONTROLLED diabetic with an obesity problem, bariatric surgery is a completely viable option.
For a person who is an UNCONTROLLED diabetic, ANY surgery is very risky, and most doctors won’t recommend bariatric until the diabetes is under control for at least 6 months.
Any surgery poses risks, especially for someone with diabetes, but, weight loss usually helps to control diabetes.
Thanks, Gary B. I had diabetes type 2 for near 20 years because I was obese. When I did the operation the diabetes and the complications were discuss and taken in consideration. And to do the operation you need to had the sugar under control the same as other elective surgery. In my case I was taking between 3 to 5 pill daily and insulin on the worst part of my diabetes. After the surgery I say BYE BYE to the pills and the insulin and follow a diet low in sugar. Today my A1C is 5.8 or No diabetes(normal) reading.
